Frequently asked questions

What materials does an abrasive cut-off saw cut?

An abrasive cut-off saw cuts tube, sections, angles and solid bars of steel and other ferrous metals. It is useful for quick cuts to length in the workshop. Unlike a bandsaw, the disc works dry and at higher speed, although it leaves more burr and heats the cutting area more.

Does the Brown A300 cut-off saw have automatic feed?

No. According to our data sheet, this unit has no automatic feed: the material is positioned by hand and held with the screw vice visible in the photos, and the cut is made by lowering the arm manually. It is a machine geared towards single cuts or short runs.

What is the difference between an abrasive cut-off saw and a bandsaw?

The abrasive cut-off saw is simpler, more compact and faster for one-off cuts, but it consumes discs and produces sparks and burr. The bandsaw cuts with less material loss and a better finish and can work automatically with coolant, so it is usually preferred for runs and large solid sections.
