Description and equipment
Heder RE-700 engine lathe
Conventional gap-bed engine lathe, suitable for maintenance, repair and one-off or short-run part production workshops. With a 700 mm swing over bed, 950 mm in the gap and 2,000 mm between centres, it covers medium-sized parts such as shafts, pulleys, flanges, bushings and spare parts.
Key strengths
It is a heavily built machine for its size, weighing 2,750 kg with a 460 mm wide bed, which gives stability on roughing passes. The gap allows discs and flanges of larger diameter than the nominal swing to be turned, and the 82 mm spindle bore makes it easier to work with through bars and tubes.

Frequently asked questions
What diameter can the Heder RE-700 turn?
According to our data sheet, it takes 700 mm in diameter over the bed, 950 mm in the gap area and 465 mm over the cross slide, with 2,000 mm between centres. The gap is useful for flanges, pulleys or short large-diameter discs that would not fit over the bed.
What is the gap on an engine lathe for?
The gap is a removable or recessed section of the bed next to the headstock. When it is removed, more free height is available and short parts with a diameter greater than the nominal swing, such as discs, flanges or handwheels, can be turned without having to use a larger lathe.
What accessories can be seen in the photos of this lathe?
