Description and equipment

Hydraulic press for spotting and trying out moulds

The Tamegar PM 56 T is a hydraulic spotting and stamping press made by Tamegar in Elche (Alicante). It is used in mould and die shops to close, adjust and check the contact between the two halves of a mould, and for small stamping jobs.

Key strengths of the machine

A spotting or die-setting press closes the mould under controlled pressure away from the injection machine or production press, which saves machine time and makes it easier to rework the closing surfaces. This unit has hydraulic drive, with a pressure gauge on the control desk, mesh guards with doors and its own electrical cabinet.

Frequently asked questions

What is a mould spotting press used for?

It closes the two halves of a mould or die with a controlled force away from the production machine. The mouldmaker can then check the contact of the closing surfaces, adjust and rework without tying up the injection machine or the main press, which reduces downtime and speeds up setting-up.

What mould size does the Tamegar PM 56 T accept?

It has a 1,000 x 700 mm table and a daylight of 200 to 700 mm, with a 700 mm stroke. It takes small and medium-sized moulds and dies whose closed height falls within that range, with a maximum force of 56 tonnes.

Is it a mechanical or a hydraulic press?

It is hydraulic. The rating plate shows a maximum pressure of 150 bar and a power of 4 kW, and the control desk includes a pressure gauge. Hydraulic drive lets you regulate the force and stop the platen at any point of the stroke, which is useful for mould spotting.
