Description and equipment

Moving-column milling machine for long workpieces

The Soraluce SV-HSC 8000 is a CNC moving-column milling machine built in Gipuzkoa, designed to machine long, heavy workpieces in a single set-up: beds, beams, machine frames, large-format moulds and machined fabrications. The column travels along a fixed 8,000 mm table, so the workpiece does not move during machining.

Key strengths of the model

Soraluce designs the SV series as moving-column milling machines with a swivelling head, which allows several faces of the workpiece to be machined without removing it. The Heidenhain TNC 530 control offers conversational shop-floor programming as well as ISO, widely used in the machining of one-off parts and short runs.

Frequently asked questions

What workpiece size does the Soraluce SV-HSC 8000 accept?

This unit has an 8,000 x 1,100 mm table and travels of 7,000 mm in X, 1,200 mm in Y and 2,000 mm in Z. It is designed for long parts such as beds, beams or frames, which can be machined in a single set-up while the column travels along the table.

Which CNC control does this milling machine have?

It has a Heidenhain TNC 530 control, which lets you program in Heidenhain conversational language directly at the machine or load ISO programs from CAM. It is a control well known to milling programmers in Spain, which makes it easier to bring the machine into the workshop.

What is the advantage of a moving-column milling machine over a fixed-bed one?

In a moving-column milling machine the workpiece stays still on the table and it is the column that moves. This allows very long, heavy parts to be machined without moving large masses, and the table can be divided into zones so that one part is set up while another is being machined.
