Wire EDM for die making and precision parts
The ONA Aricut U 400 is a wire EDM machine from ONA Electroerosión, a Basque manufacturer with a long track record in this process. It cuts any conductive material by electrical discharge, including hardened steel and carbide, so it is used for dies, punches, die plates, cams, gears and parts with complex profiles.
Model highlights
ONA's Aricut U series was offered in several sizes (U 250, U 400 and U 900); the U 400 is the intermediate size. The machine is operated from the ONA Neurona control, with keyboard and screen in a separate cabinet, and has U-V heads for taper cutting according to the model documentation.

What workpiece size does the ONA Aricut U 400 take?
This unit has travels of 600 x 400 mm in the X and Y axes and a tank of 1,200 x 880 x 400 mm. It suits die plates, dies and medium-sized parts; the maximum workpiece height must be confirmed with us before purchase.
What materials can be cut by wire EDM?
Any electrically conductive material: hardened steel, stainless steel, carbide, copper, aluminium or titanium. Since the wire exerts no cutting force on the part, thin profiles, sharp corners and complex contours can be produced without distorting the material, even after heat treatment.
What control does this EDM machine have?
It has the ONA Neurona control, ONA's own control for its machines of this period, installed in a separate cabinet with screen, keyboard and trackball. The cutting programs and the machine's generator parameters are managed from it.
