The AWEA SP-2016-HSS is a bridge-type vertical machining centre with a high-speed spindle, aimed at large parts that need a good finish: moulds, dies, aluminium plates and components for the automotive, aerospace and energy sectors.
According to AWEA, the SP series combines spindle power with a high-rigidity structure, with roller linear guideways on X and Y for heavy cutting and a Z axis on hardened and ground box ways. The HSS version adds a high-speed spindle, suited to mould finishing and aluminium machining. The Fanuc 18i-MB control offers high-speed machining functions suited to long CAM programs.
Injection and stamping moulds, aluminium plates and structures, electrodes, tooling and large precision parts in the mould and die, automotive and aerospace sectors.
The machine is at our premises in Monforte del Cid (Alicante), where you can visit it; contact us to see it running or to receive a video. Our own service engineers take care of transport, installation and commissioning.
The table measures 2,310 x 1,500 mm and takes up to 8,000 kg, with travels of 2,100 mm in X, 1,600 mm in Y and 760 mm in Z. It lets you machine moulds, plates and large wide parts in a single set-up, making the most of the gantry's rigidity across the full width of the table.
It has a Fanuc 18i-MB control and a 15,000 rpm spindle with BT40 taper and 22/26 kW of power. It includes an automatic tool changer and a swarf conveyor. This configuration is geared to finishing and fast machining of moulds and aluminium, rather than very heavy roughing.
The HSS version has a high-speed spindle. With small-diameter tools it reaches the right cutting speed for fine finishes in moulds, electrodes and aluminium. A conventional gantry with a 50 taper and fewer revolutions is geared more to heavy roughing in steel and cast iron.
