The Mori Seiki NH4000 DCG is a compact horizontal machining centre with a 400 x 400 mm pallet, geared towards series production of prismatic parts: valve bodies, housings, brackets and components for the automotive, hydraulics and machinery industries.
According to Mori Seiki, DCG (Driven at the Center of Gravity) technology drives the axes through their centre of gravity to reduce vibration and improve finish and accuracy at high accelerations. According to the manufacturer, the rotary pallet changer allows one workpiece to be set up outside the work area while another is being machined, reducing idle times. Mori Seiki's MSX-501 control, based on Fanuc, includes the brand's conversational programming functions.
4-sided machining of prismatic parts in series, aluminium and cast-iron housings, hydraulic blocks, brackets and automotive parts in production and subcontracting workshops.
The machine is at our premises in Monforte del Cid (Alicante), where you can come and see it; contact us to see it running or to receive a video. Our own technical service takes care of transport, installation and commissioning.
It works with 400 x 400 mm pallets and travels of 560 mm in X, 560 mm in Y and 620 mm in Z. It is suitable for small and medium-sized prismatic parts such as housings, valve bodies or brackets, which can be machined on several sides in a single setup on the pallet.
While the machine is machining the workpiece clamped on one pallet, the operator can set up the next one outside the work area; when finished, the pallets are exchanged automatically. This reduces spindle downtime, which is especially worthwhile in medium and long runs of repetitive parts.
In a horizontal centre the spindle is parallel to the table, and the table usually rotates, so several sides of the workpiece can be reached without unclamping it. In addition, the chips fall by gravity, which helps evacuation. That is why it is used in the production of prismatic parts, while the vertical is more common for plates and moulds.
