Description and equipment
What it is
The Johnford VMC-850 is a vertical machining centre for milling, drilling and tapping medium-sized parts in short and medium runs, common in subcontract and toolmaking shops.
Model features
According to the manufacturer's documentation for the VMC-850 model, the table measures 1,000 x 500 mm and the travels are 800 mm in X, 500 mm in Y and 610 mm in Z. The same documentation cites a BT40/CAT40 taper and an arm-type tool magazine; these are model data, not confirmed for this unit.

According to the manufacturer, the table is 1,000 x 500 mm and the model's travels are 800 x 500 x 610 mm. For a specific part you also need to allow for the height of the fixture and the tool, so we recommend that you contact us with the drawing.
Is it suitable for series production?
According to the manufacturer, the model has an automatic tool changer and is a general-purpose vertical machining centre, suited to short and medium runs as well as one-off parts. For long runs with very tight cycle times, a machine with more tool positions or a pallet system may be more suitable.
