What it is
Geminis GE-1200-25 heavy-duty centre lathe with 8,000 mm between centres, for machining long, large-diameter shafts, rollers and cylinders for industrial machinery, the paper, steel and shipbuilding industries.
Key strengths
The Geminis GE series is a range of heavy-duty, large-bed centre lathes; the marking on the machine reads «GE-1200-25». The large gap and swing over bed allow bulky parts to be machined, and the 160 mm spindle bore takes large-diameter tubes and hollow shafts.

Frequently asked questions
What workpiece length and diameter does the Geminis GE-1200-25 accept?
According to our data sheet, 8,000 mm between centres and 1,200 mm swing over bed, rising to 1,600 mm in the gap. The spindle bore is 160 mm. These are the capacities of a heavy-duty lathe, designed for large shafts and rollers.
What is the fixed steady rest for?
A fixed steady rest is a support with adjustable pads that holds the workpiece at an intermediate point to stop it deflecting or vibrating during machining. On shafts several metres long it is essential for maintaining accuracy. The photos of this unit show a ring-type steady rest mounted on the bed.
Is it a CNC lathe?
No. It is a conventional centre lathe, operated by hand with handwheels and levers. The data sheet does not mention numerical control or a digital readout. It is a good option for one-off parts, repairs and large jobs where programming a cycle is not worthwhile.
