The Darex M-5 is a bench-top drill grinder for restoring the cutting edge and geometry of everyday twist drills. The plate on this unit identifies it as a «Drill Sharpener» by Darex Corporation, Ashland, Oregon, made in the USA.

What does a Darex M-5 drill grinder do?
It regrinds the point of twist drills to restore the cutting angle and edge. The drill is held in the chuck, the angle is set on the scale and the drill is presented to the grinding wheel. It extends the life of the drills used every day in the workshop.
What voltage does it run on?
The original plate shows 115 V and 60 Hz, with 1/3 HP and 3,450 rpm. On top of it there is a label stating 220 V 50/60 Hz. We recommend checking the motor connection before commissioning; our service engineers can check it for you.
Is it a bench-top machine?
Yes. It is a compact unit with the motor in the centre and a grinding wheel on each side, designed to be fixed to a workbench. It needs a stable bench and a power supply suited to the motor voltage, which should be checked before connecting it.
