Description and equipment

Vertical machining centre with a rugged bed

The AWEA BM-1100 is a three-axis vertical machining centre made in Taiwan, from AWEA's BM series, aimed at medium-sized prismatic parts: plates, brackets, housings, fixtures and small moulds. Its 1,300 x 600 mm table and 7,500 kg weight place it among the heavy-construction vertical centres for its size.

Model and control highlights

AWEA's BM series is conceived as a range of vertical centres with rugged guideways for cutting steel and cast iron. The Fanuc 18i-MB control is a very widespread milling control, programmable in ISO, with plenty of technicians and spare parts available.

Frequently asked questions

What workpiece size does the AWEA BM-1100 take?

This unit has a 1,300 x 600 mm table and travels of 1,100 mm in X, 600 mm in Y and 600 mm in Z. It suits medium-sized prismatic parts such as plates, brackets or housings, and clamping several small parts on the same table.

What CNC control does this machining centre have?

It has a Fanuc Series 18i-MB control, the milling version of the 18i series. It is programmed in ISO code, accepts CAM-generated programs and is a control familiar to most programmers and maintenance technicians, which makes it easier to integrate the machine.

What does a random tool changer mean?

In a random changer, the tool leaving the spindle is placed in the pocket that has just been freed, not in a fixed position. This shortens the changing time. On this unit the magazine has 20 positions and works with taper 40.
